Vinyl Pickers
This was for a special issue of DJ Magazine in
preparation for The Miami Music Festivities. The illustration accompanied
an article on 'Vinyl Pickers'; people hired by the top DJ's to search
for and purchase the very latest tunes.
I created the illustration to appear like a hoard of 'borrowers' climbing
stacks of 12" vinyl's, scrowering and clambering the 'landscape'
for their best finds. |

Forum
An illustration to accompany an article discussing
the new wave of online communication between clubbers and club owners
in the form of online forums.
My response simply tries to reflect the idea of a globalised, networked
world through computers - everything is linked.
The military/soldier reference is taken from a quote in the article.
Honest. |

Musical Terrain
Our first illustration for DJ Magazine for 2005.
This particular piece was done in record time, but was to accompany
a piece about the ever expanding and overlapping of music genres across
the soundscape that is the world of music.
Any excuse to draw a beautiful map. We used various places from around
the existing world to create a series of islands. Adding contour lines
, tunnels and 'flight paths' alongside 3-d formed waveforms the piece
hopefully communicates the idea of music genres linking, merging and
'overlapping'. |

Dig-it-all Music
An illustration to simply echo an article on the
evolution of the dance scene with the intervention of new hardware
and software available to everyone. The old linking with the new -
it is, as I said, all linked. |

Ibiza Special Supplement
cover
Front cover illustration for the Ibiza special
issue; available at travel agents, airports and in and around Ibiza
this summer.
The brief was very simple, something showing the sexual glamour of
the place, along with a feeling psychadellia and colour.
The original picture was taken at the opening of Space last week by
Paul Underhill and then flown back on the red-eye to us the following
Tuesday. |

Ibiza Special cover
Front cover illustration for the second Ibiza special
issue; available at travel agents, airports and in and around Ibiza
this summer.
The brief was again very simple, creative an illustration that followed
the same visual feel of the last cover: something showing the sexual
glamour of the place, along with a feeling psychadellia and colour. |

Micro Nights
A commissioned piece to accompany an article on
'Micro Nights'; the more 'underground' scene of small venues with
the best nights.
The idea was quite obvious, but the idea of searching and cutting
through the trash to find that one little place that holds the essence
of all you search for...erm, yeah, and the idea of a hidden oasis
in a jungle was it too. |

No Smoking
This illustration accompanied an article on the
'topic of moment' concerning the banning of smoking in clubs and bars;
following suit after California, New York and Dublin.
The original idea was to produce a simple icon, as seen in bars. However
I created it in to an actual bar with a simple extraction of detail
from a photo and then just adding some perspective with the use of
people in a bar being fazed out by smoke in and around them. |
